Bernadette Stark is a founding partner of Dinsmore Stark, Attorneys At Law, practicing primarily in the areas of Family Law and Immigration. Attorney Stark received her B.A. from the State University of New York at Binghamton, and received her Juris Doctor degree from Cornell Law School in 2001. She previously worked at the Student Legal Services Office (“SLSO”) at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and at Western Massachusetts Legal Services, where she represented low-income survivors of domestic violence in domestic relations disputes and immigration matters.

She was recognized for her work in 2007 and was awarded the Sarah Betsy Fuller Social Justice Award, a distinguished alumni award granted by Cornell Law School. She was also honored in 2008 as a “Diversity Hero” by Massachusetts’ Lawyers Weekly and later that year as a “Woman of Justice” also by Massachusetts’ Lawyers Weekly, which is an award given to individuals who have made meaningful and inspiring contributions in the fields of social justice and advocacy. In 2010, she received the “Gideon’s Trumpet Award” from Senior Partners for Justice, in honor of her “extraordinary commitment to Access to Justice for all.”

Attorney Stark has also been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for New England in 2012 and 2013 and was recently recognized as a “TOP 10 Attorney, under the age of 40” by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys. In her practice, she assists clients with legal issues which affect the family, including: divorce, child custody, parentage, support, domestic violence, family based agreements such as prenuptial agreements and known donor agreements, adoptions and family-based immigration petitions. A large focus of her practice includes issues faced by LGBT families as a result of the national Defense of Marriage Act. Ms. Stark believes in aggressively pursuing her clients’ best interests, but with a compassionate approach tailored to each clients’ specific needs. When she is not working, volunteering or attending continuing legal education courses, Bernadette is home caring for her two wonderful boys and volunteering as the Commissioner of the Mary Vazquez Women’s Softball League in Northampton.
